Criminalized Marijuana, especially in the South side of Providence where I am running, has a disproportionate affect on the minority population of Rhode Island and ruins families for what is almost always a victimless crime. It’s time that it end. Marijuana charges make it harder to find jobs and contribute to the cycle of poverty. That said, if an employer wants to test for Marijuana because employees would be tasked with handling power equipment or the like, I do think they should be allowed to do so. -Luis Vargas Candidate for State Rep – District 12 (Upper South Side of Providence & Washington Park)
